Summary: Very close to the original game for the PS3, Valkyria Chronicles . Looks very pretty, dialog and characters are just as corny, but the game play is still great, deep, fresh (a variant of the turn based style I haven't seen in any other game). If you have the ability to download though, you can now (Dec 31, 2010) get it for slightly less than half the price from PSN.
Summary: I didn't think sega could top the first Valkyria Chronicles but they have with this sequel. More of the same great strategy gameplay with added customization and depth, characters that are even better than the first with specific missions that flesh out they're personality. This will be a front runner for best handheld game of the year, buy it!.
Makes me wish the third game had a European release
16 October 2013
Excerpt: "...system. One such example is Valkyria Chronicles 2, the follow-up to one of my favorite PlayStation 3 games. What a pity then that Sega decided to transfer the series from the popular PS3 to the more obscure PSP. The resultant drop in sales has denied European fans from ever seeing Valkyria Chronicles 3 on these shores. The game is set in the fictional continent of Europa, which is modeled off World War II Europe. The tiny nation of Gallia lies sandwiched ...
Pros: Strategic gameplay that incorporates turn based & real time elements, over 50 hours of content .
Cons: Some players may find the lead character a tad annoying, the enemy A . I is weak .
Summary: This is a really good game- much better than you might think for a psp game. I know some don't fully appreciate psp games so much but I personally liked quite a few. This game though is in a category of its own and it's definitely worth buying. The characters are what makes this game great. Their personality is definitely more than most.
Valkyria Chronicles II (PSP): Review of Valkyria Chronicles 2
9 August 2013
Summary: As mentioned in my other reviews, I recently became the proud owner of a PlayStation Vita. Although the handheld's software library, in Europe, is rather sparse I am not regretting my purchase one bit. I never owned a Sony PSP so the Vita has given me the opportunity of sampling some of the gems that were released on that system. One such example is Valkyria Chronicles 2, the follow-up to one of my favorite PlayStation 3 games.
Pros: Strategic gameplay that incorporates turn based & real time elements, over 50 hours of content.
Cons: Some players may find the lead character a tad annoying, the enemy A.I is weak.
Summary: Valkyria chronicles 2 is a bit a disappointment, the game gets great review and stuff like this but..... The story lacking, the mission based nature really hurts the plot, but the plot itself is nothing special, standard japanese fare. Character: the most stereotyped japanese anime character ever! what a disappointment, if only a traditional jrpg get released with character like these, sure get killed by critic reviews graphic and presentation: menu and artwork!
Summary: Really fun play, a little storyline here and there. A whole new "job" system, get job requirements and upgrade your units. Must buy! Only thing I didn't like is, you could only use 6 units per mission. But I guess that's how the game works.
Summary: Valkyria Chronicles II is one of the most amazing strategy games I've ever played. And I've been playing the genre since ye olde days of X-COM and Shining Force. VCII is simply a wonderful evolution of the genre, thanks to its innovative BLiTZ (Battle of Live Tactical Zones) combat system. This method of turn based initiative versus real time execution reveals new stratagems that continuously improve in subtle ways the longer you play.
Summary: Confession time: I never played the first Valkyria Chronicles . To many this might make my opinion of the second iteration irrelevant, but it does give me an unbiased opinion on this game. Many of us in the west didn’t play either game of the series, and the fact that Valkyria Chronicles 2 was released only on PSP did not improve the sales figures. Although this move of consoles was a bit frustrating to some fans, it is not irrational.
