Summary: Parents need to know that this game has a lot of (mostly bloodless) action-packed fighting scenes. The plot does demonstrate the importance of friendships, loyalty, and kindness, but the characters and backdrops are from Disney movies or the Final Fantasy series of games. Parents also need to know that the GBA version's cartoonish graphics are more realistic in the PS2 version, making the violence much more in your face.
Excerpt: As a fusion of two of the most prominent publishers of role-playing games, Square-Enix consistently produces some of the most beautiful and complex games in the genre. But there is little doubt that more than a few eyebrows went up when the company announced an action RPG that brought Final Fantasy characters and Disney characters together under the same universe. The very idea seemed such a mishmash that many wondered if it could be pulled off.
Summary: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is a fun game that was almost brought down by questionable control issues and a repetitive story. If players can get past a few minor problems, they'll discover that this prequel offers a surprising amount of great content, beautiful graphics and even some fun multiplayer modes! This product was submitted by the publisher for review. As a rule, Defunct Games does not review games we spent money on.
Excerpt: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories entered a world where its predecessor, Kingdom Hearts , remains in recent memory, and its sequel, Kingdom Hearts II , looms on the horizon. By blending old memories from Kingdom Hearts and small glimpses into Kingdom Hearts II , Square Enix and Jupiter have created a game that stands as a fascinating link in the series. The game also goes beyond serving as mere filler and delivers a unique and challenging experience.
